When you hear the term MINDSET, what does it mean for you?
To me, it’s the compass directing my thoughts. In this blog post, I want to share a fresh perspective on mindset shifts, hoping it sparks an awareness to shift your own.
Mindset shifts may seem like an overwhelming overhaul of your thoughts and actions. However, within The Self-Care Behind The Chair Method, we delve into the Mindset Shifts pillar, exploring a quick way to focus your energy and other tools to expand your mindset, fostering growth and energy protection.
The Self-Care Behind the Chair Method consists of four pillars: Mindset Shifts, Communication Skills, Boundaries, and Self-Care Strategies. Our toolkit equips you to combat overwhelm, burnout, and compassion fatigue. This post will spotlight the Mindset pillar, a key practice for preventing burnout and fostering presence in your life.
In today’s blog post, I will be sharing what a North Star word is, sharing mine, and giving you the tools to create your own.
Your North Star word is a place where energy is focused. If you ever get lost, it is a promising bright redirection for you to find a part of yourself again.
On each birthday, I prioritize taking time and reflecting on the past year. I write down where I thrived and where I struggled. Envisioning where I would like to be a year from this moment, I take this list and assign a word that inspires me and represents the upcoming year. This year’s word is significant: Self-Integrity. Reflecting on self-doubt and self-integrity, I’ve embraced a mindset shift.
Download today’s worksheet [LINK] to discover your North Star word and embark on this transformative journey.
Self-integrity, for me, addresses a lifelong struggle – a core value challenged by self-doubt. Holding the highest integrity for others, I often found myself breaking promises made to myself, which impacted every facet of my life. Another challenge you may share with me, is the diagnosis of ADHD. Adding an extra layer of challenge, making follow-through an uphill battle.
An example of my North Star word while serving others behind the chair looks like; honoring promises, respecting boundaries, avoiding energy-draining conversations, and defeating procrastination.
Discover your North Star Word using today’s worksheet. Align it with your life, create a plan, and speak it into your present.
Live into your word, don’t chase it, and be vigilant against self-doubt interference.
As I write this blog post, I embody self-integrity by speaking into the present. Manifesting change in my daily life, I hold myself accountable to show up for me and YOU.
Now, take some time and discover your North Star Word. Download this worksheet to assist you in finding the area where a North Star word may align with your life. Create a plan to execute your word to speak into your present so it naturally becomes a part of you instead of something you are striving for.
When committing to a task or a new project, making life-altering decisions, or even making daily choices, ensure it aligns with your North Star. Live into your word instead of chasing it and be aware that self-doubt doesn’t interfere. By consistently watching that Self-Doubt is not getting in the way of my North Star Word, I hold myself accountable for what I have committed to.
I challenge you to come up with a word that you can look to as your North Star this next year. Keep it bright in your view so that everything you do leads you in that direction. Hold yourself accountable to yourself so that you’re living your best life!
Live it daily, ensuring big or small decisions reflect your North Star. Download the worksheet to guide you on this transformative journey. If you’re unsure, adopt one of mine as they have served me well. It’s about changing your mindset and committing to YOU first.
